Happy Earth Day!

Piccadilly Puppets has two great shows with an environmental theme:

Nancy w:butterfly
Mother Nature with Katy Butterfly from Butterfly Ballad

Butterfly Ballad teaches the kids about the life cycle of the butterfly though the antics of Katy & Kevin Caterpillar, who become Monarch butterflies. Mother Nature narrates the story and asks the kids how they can help her take care of nature. We will be performing this show at the UWG Sustainability Expo at the Carrollton Amphitheater on Thursday, April 21 at 5:30 pm. We also have a lot of school performances of this show this month.

Splish, Splash: Water Stories teaches the importance of water to all cultures though folk tales from Australia and the Muscogee people, and includes a shadow puppet dramatization of the water cycle. It concludes with a fun song, “Everybody needs a little water!”

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a puppet show at the Children’s Museum!

We will be performing Once Upon a Time in China on Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM as part of the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. There will also be storytelling, dance and a dragon parade!

Help Spread the Joy of Puppets on Ga Gives Day!

Thursday, November 12 is GA Gives Day!

“You were fantastic…Please come back and do another puppet show!”

That’s what Taylor, a second-grade student at Jackson Elementary wrote us in a letter after our performance of Cherokee Tales. The children had obviously enjoyed the performance, laughing at all of the funny parts, chanting along with Chief Gray Eagle. They might not have even realized how much the show fit into the Native American unit of their curriculum! Thanks to a grant, we were able to perform at that school for a reasonable price. We need support from individuals, too – people like you that see the value of puppets and arts in education.

Ga Gives Day is a chance to highlight the many non-profits working to make our state a better place to live. Georgia is at the bottom of the country in government support of the arts, but YOU can help bridge the gap so that kids of all backgrounds and income levels can experience our shows! OCA logoPiccadilly Puppets is a proud recipient of funding from the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs! We provide puppet performances throughout the City of Atlanta, and the funds help us to cover some expenses, so that we can keep our shows affordable. Funding also enables us to offer discounts to schools that receive Title One funding and other venues in those neighborhoods (such as libraries), and occasionally offer free shows in underserved parts of the city.

Thank you so much to the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs for helping us to educate and entertain children in Atlanta through the art of puppetry!
